Jeff's Big Week

Jeff has had quite the week.  On Tuesday he defended his thesis project.  His project was about a disease that can be found in the salmon fish population.  He had been working on it for the past few years.  He had to give a thirty five minute presentation, and then answer any questions that people had after presenting his findings.

He was then taken into a room where there was a panel of professors and university faculty and was asked to defend his thesis.  He said that it was a little nerve recking, when they sent him out of the room to deliberate. Lucky for him they only needed a few minutes, because he passed with flying colors.  We are so proud of him!  We were able to go and listen to him present his thesis, and he did such a great job.  We thought he looked very good in front of the class:)

On Wednesday evening Jeff and I got to go out for a very special evening.  Jeff was nominated for the Outstanding Student in the BioResource Research department and won (rightly so). The award is presented to students that excel in their field as well as participate in service and extracurricular activities.  It was so neat to see him be rewarded for all of his hard work.  Jeff is one of the most humble people I have ever met, but you could tell that he was very tickled to have received such honors.
Our Shining Star!!!

Jeff also received a job offer at a lab here in town.  More news to follow, when we decided if he is going to accept it or not.... Like I said it's been a big week for Jeff.

You are so right; Jeff deserves to be recognized for all his hard work. That award sounds perfect for him, he definitely did extracurricular activities! Keith and I thought he was crazy sometimes with his schedule but I am so glad it has all worked out. I remember one time when I asked him how he can get up every morning when he usually got little sleep and then tackle another one of his days and he responded by saying he can get up because he would look at you and see that it was all worth it. I thought that was very sweet and I knew he would succeed. Your baby girl is a super cutie and you betcha I will fast for Logan this Sunday. You have a beautiful family Shauna and I am happy for you. We are loving Texas... most days and are looking forward to our adventures and future family.
