Our Guatemalan Trip

So, finally I have a minute to write. It has been crazy the last couple of days. I'll start by writing a little more about our week in Guatemala. I told Jeff that it was one of the best weeks of my life. I can't explain it, but it was so nice to finally feel like the missing part in my life was filled. I have always wanted to be a wife and a mother. Even when I was a little kid that's what I would tell people when they asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. It was such a peaceful and fulfilling experience to finally get to feel what it will be like to be a mother. I didn't even mind the lack of sleep and changing the poppy diapers (Jeff didn't change a single one, but I'm sure his luck wont stick for very long).

We were able to go to visit Logan for a full week this time. It was one of the fastest weeks of our lives. When we saw Logan again he came right to us, and gave each of us the biggest hug. It was so comforting to know that he remembered us. Logan's foster family brought him to the hotel as soon as we got there, and then he stays the whole time with us. There are so many families that adopt from Guatemala most of the hotels have cribs, and play rooms set up for the kids.

We had a great time celebrating Logan's 1st birthday. We had a little party for him. He loved the cards and gifts that were sent from the grandparents and the Rubys. We did a little cake for him, but he wasn't too sure of the Guatemalan pastries. I'm sure he is more fond of the white cake with chocolate icing like his dad.

This trip we were able to visit a few more places. We got to go to the Guatemala City temple. We wanted to take Logan there, and get some pictures. It's a very beautiful temple. Logan's favorite parts were: eating lunch and playing with the grass.

We found out while we were down there that Guatemala celebrates Halloween also. We were happy to hear this since we brought a Halloween costume down for Logan. He was a turtle this year. In one of the pictures you can see his little tail. Too cute!

Since we were going to be there on a Sunday we decided to go to church. Before we left I told Jeff how neat it would be if we ran into some of the elders from my mission. I knew that a few of them were from Guatemala City, but I had lost contact with them over the last few years. Guess my surprise when we walked into church on Sunday and saw Luis Carlos Barrera, one of the elders from my mission. I don't know who was more surprised to see who. It was so much fun catching up on old times, and we really enjoyed meeting his adorable family. He has been married for a little over a year to a beautiful girl named, Karen and they have a gorgeous little boy who is three months old.
I think that about sums up our visit to Guatemala. We had a great time and can't wait to go back down and bring Logan home. The time line that they gave us this last visit would put us into December or January for pick up. We can't wait! I took so many pictures that I'll end my post with some of the honorable mentions. I hope you enjoy.

Jeff said that because Logan is Latin he can pull off a speedo. I'm not sure Logan agrees.

Jeff thinks Logan is going to be a wrestler since he is already practicing his moves.

What a face!

P.S. - I started a photo album at Wal-Mart, so if anyone would like to see all the photos we took or would like copies let me know and I'll send you the information.

P.S.S. - Thank you Brenley for the help on the banner! I like how it turned out.

He is so adorable! I'm glad you got to spend some time with him. Wouldn't that be wonderful if you could bring him home for Christmas? I'll be praying for you. I love that you're blogging now!
