Logan Update

I'm not a big fan of posts that are long winded or don't include many pictures, but I am making an exception to the rule.  Lots of people have been asking about Logan's case, so I thought I would give an update.

Our case worker informed us that "... things are getting close now, and you will probably want to be looking at some tentative plans."  Logan has a completed birth certificate (well some what completed) YEAH!  His new birth certificate has our last name (very exciting) and his given name at birth.  We will still have to work on getting his final birth certificate once he comes home.

And as far as we know his passport was also completed.  Funny story about that... We talked to Logan's foster family yesterday.  Jennifer said that when she took Logan in for his appointment to get his passport photo taken there was a bunch of kids outside the office playing.  She let Logan stay outside and play, but when they needed him for his photo he cried the WHOLE time.  For 45 minutes straight he cried, and then as soon as they took him back outside he immediately stopped crying and went back to playing like nothing was wrong.  Can someone say 'terrible twos'.  I have a feeling his passport photo is going to look a little something like this.

We still have to do another DNA test.  This will be I believe his fifth one.  Ridiculous!  Apparently they want to make sure we haven't switched babies at the end of the process.  Are they kidding?!?  After all we have gone through to get Logan, and they think we would want to give him up now.  People can be so stupid!

We will have a week to ten days notice letting us know that we need to be back down to Guatemala for his exit interview.  Rather ironic that we have been working on his case for almost two years and they can only give you a weeks notice.  Although at this point, we will take anything they give us, as long as we get to bring our son home. So if things go according to planned we should be going down in three to four weeks.

As far as Bella's case things are moving along slowly but surely.  No thanks to LDS Family Services.  I was talking to a friend the other day about the fiascoes that have happened with them.  I told her that the people working there are morons, and she said no they are Mormons.  I told her nope in this instance I'm pretty sure they are morons.  Has anyone else had poor experiences with the Portland, OR branch of LDS Services?  I've gone back and forth about filing a complaint about their office.  I think I have decided to do it, because I'm hoping if more people step forward something will get done to change things.  Then maybe others won't have to go through such a horrible experience like we had.

Well, I think I filled my quota of long winded posts.  Hopefully soon I will have pictures to go along with our little Logan.  Yeah!

I found your blog through a friends blog and have been reading as you wait for Logan. I was so happy that you were able to adopt Bella. We adopted our 1st son when we lived in Omaha. Then we moved to Portland and we went through the LDSFS. The secretary made me cry my first phone call. I didn't like the way things were done there. Very different than the office we went through. After a year of being on the waiting list we did IVF and have 3 other kids. I am sorry that you have to go through all these problems. It is hard enough not being able to have children then you have to go through the hard part of dealing with agency's as well. I hope your son will be home soon.
