God Has a Funny Sense of Humor

I have been horrible about updating our blog, and I finally promised my sister that I would get on it. I'm sure the big question for all our friends back west is, "Are we still alive?" We are surviving, and compared to other people we know we are doing quite well. Our power only went out on Saturday morning from 2:00 am until 7:00 am. We know some people that it's been out for 36 hours, and some for 4 days. Wow!

The day before the big storm hit the kids and I went to the grocery store. It was a mad house, but we were able to stock up on some of the essentials. I'm glad we did it then, because from what I've heard people go crazy when it snows out here.

The kids and I have just been hunkering down for the past few days. We were able to have Jeff home for the weekend, which we loved. Even though work has been closed this whole week, he has still been going in every day. On a good day he can drive into work in about 15 minutes. On Monday and Tuesday it took him an hour and half to get in. He has had some success this week in the cancer research he is doing, which is good to see that his efforts are paying off.

Anyway getting back to the snow. It looks like the snow is back again. I took this picture this morning. I honestly don't know how much snow we have gotten, but they are saying it's the biggest snow storm we have had in decades. (Jeff has just informed me that this is the most snow they have had since 1898, and the second largest snow fall ever recorded in the D.C. area.)

See those white mounds behind the kids... those are people's cars.

Notice the snow drifts on the top porch. I don't foresee them using their porch anytime soon. That's pretty mild for what we have seen.

In the background that is some one's front door.
Here are some videos of the kids playing in the snow for your viewing pleasure. I will try and post tomorrow some of the 'fun' activities we have been doing to curb our cabin fever. Wish us luck that we all survive, being stuck inside with each other.
