Kirsten's D.C. Trip

I'm a little behind on my posting, but I wanted to make sure I wrote about my sister coming and visiting us. She was able to come the last part of April, and it was great to have her and her new son come and see us. It was the first time we got to meet her new baby which was born in March.

It was amazing all the things we crammed into just three days. The kids did a great job keeping up, and I must say for being seven months pregnant I was for the most part able to keep up with my super fast sister.

Here are a few of the highlights of her trip...
(I was able to steal all of these pictures off her blog. Thanks Kirs!)
Day 1
We were able to take her on her first metro ride. She said it was the first train she has ever been on. Logan was happy to teach her the ropes.
The first day she was here we went to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History.
The Capitol
Kirsten and Finn in front of the White House.
The Washington Monument
Even after all the walking we had done that day Logan was still wanting to run in circles. Oh man, if I had half his energy I could rule the world. :)
Day 2
We went to the National Cathedral.
Embassy Row
The Lincoln Memorial
The Vietnam Memorial
Next we went to Arlington National Cemetery.

This is one of my favorite pictures my sister took.
It was pouring down rain the whole time we were walking around the grounds.
We were able to watch the changing of the guards, which was amazing and very inspiring.
On the way out it finally stopped raining. Notice Bella's hair plastered to her head. She kept refusing to leave her hat on. Crazy girl!
Day 3
We headed over to Mount Vernon.
For those who don't know this is the estate of George Washington.
Logan was very impressed with his free map. Don't let his happy cheerful face fool you though. When we were taking a tour of the house he lost it big time. It was a little hairy trying to get two kids out of a packed space, but at least it was the first major fit we had the entire time my sister was here.
The gardens were amazing and kept up really well.
The last night my sister talked us into getting a babysitter and going back into D.C. minus the kiddos. It was fantastic! My sister really wanted to go to the National Archives, but we missed it by literally two minutes. Oh well it gives her a reason to come back and visit us again. :)
My sister also wanted to see China Town. We got out at the metro stop, saw that there was a riot going on, took a fast picture, and quickly turned around and got back on the metro.

My sister found this awesome French restaurant in Dupont Circle called Bistrot Du Coin. The atmosphere was great, the food was fantastic, and the company was amazing.

We sure were happy to have Kirsten and Finn come and visit. We hope we showed them a good enough time that they will come again for another visit soon.

Fun memories. I actually dreamed about that lobster ravioli from the French restaurant last night.
