We ended up heading to the Oregon coast for our Memorial weekend. Jeff and I had never been that far south on the Oregon coast, so it was fun to experience it all for the first time. My parents rented a house right on the beach, and it was beautiful.
We stayed at a quiet little town called Bandon, Oregon.
The house we stayed at was originally built in the 1920's, and was the shop of a shoemaker. The kids had a great time jumping in the store windows and pretending to be mannequins. They had a few double-takes.
Lincoln was a horrible sleeper while we were there, so there were a few early morning walks.
It was fun to see all the little details that went into this town. Even the concrete was stamped with sea life images.
There were lots of opportunities for kite flying on the beach, and the kids loved every minute of it.
I'm hoping these two will become great friends, because they are only four months apart.
The one thing that I have been talking about for months is wanting to get a picture of my kids dressed in white sitting on the beach. Too bad they didn't want to cooperate with my brilliant idea.

My brother-in-law and Jeff spent lots of time on the dock crabbing. Jeff had a great time hanging out with Ken, unfortanetly they weren't able to keep any of the crabs they caught. They probably caught close to a hundred but they were all females or too small.
One night while I was putting Lincoln to sleep everyone headed down to the beach and tried to send off a lantern.
Apparently it was kind of a bust, because it caught on fire.
Here are a few pictures of the lighthouse that was right out the backdoor of the rental house.
I'm so glad we were able to go and see such a beautiful part of the country. Definitely memories we will remember forever.

We love Bandon. We lived in Coquille, which is just 20 minutes or so inland from there, for 5 1/2 years and Bandon was my favorite coastal town to visit down there. Next time you're down there, have your hubby take you over to the Bandon Dunes Golf Course and have lunch or dinner at one of their restaurants - they have great food! Sounds like you had a lovely time!
Wow, we were in Bandon during Memorial Day weekend, too. It would have been fun to run into each other on the beach. :)
Such a great trip. I can't believe it has already been 2 weeks!
