This last week was a BIG week for Logan. On Wednesday he had his first day of kindergarten.
The traditional picture in front of the house.
I ended up having him use the same backpack that he used for preschool. This is the backpack that I bought for $3.00. I believe it was an Avatar backpack, because it had some random person's name written across the top. I brought it home and painted clouds and airplanes over the name, and now Logan loves it.
These two were almost giddy with excitement.
Lincoln tried to join in on the picture taking. He is so sly.
One of the things Logan was most excited about was riding the school bus.
We are starting to learn all the 'rules' of school bus etiquette. Apparently you want to put your backpack down as soon as you arrive in order to mark your spot. Too funny!
The bus ended up being ten or fifteen minutes late, so we had lots of time to wait.
This is the reaction we got from Logan when he first glimpsed the bus coming down the street. Such a cutie!
One last waive before he climbed on.
Jeff was lucky enough to be able to stay home from work that morning, so he could see Logan off. I begged Jeff to take me to the school, so that I could make sure Logan got there safe and sound.
Here he is sitting at his desk. He got lucky and gets to sit right in the middle of two adorable girls.
When the kids walked in the classroom, his teacher, had a large bucket of puppets waiting for them. She told them that they could pick out a friend, and keep it with them for the day in case they got a little nervous.
We wanted to make sure that the transition went easily for Bella and Lincoln as well, so we had lots of activities planned for the day. First stop was swimming at the YMCA. We also got ice cream, and had several play dates throughout the day. Bella did really well, and only asked a couple times where Logan was.
By the time 4:00 rolled around Bella was literally jumping off the walls with excitement looking forward to Logan's arrival home.
I took her outside and we played a few games of hide-n-seek while we waited for the bus.
As soon as she saw Logan coming she couldn't wait to give him a big hug.
That night we made pizzas and I let the kids put their own toppings on.
I must say that the first week of school was a total SUCCESS!
Here are a few highlights from Logan's first week:
* When asked what his favorite part of kindergarten was he quickly responded with, "Recess and lunch!" Funny how that starts at such an early age.
* The second day Bella tried to convince Logan that kindergarten was just a one time deal. She told him that he needed to go back to preschool with her. Logan was very relieved when I told him he was going back to kindergarten.
* In the past it would take hours for Logan to settle down at night. The last three nights we haven't had any problems, and he goes right down.
* His teacher mentioned in one of her emails that the school librarian said they were the best kindergarten class she has seen yet.
We couldn't be more proud of this little guy, and all he has accomplished. We are looking forward to seeing how he grows and matures over these next few months.
WAY TO GO LITTLE KINDERGARTEN BOY!

As tears roll down my cheek, I'm thinking I need a puppet to comfort me. It seems like not too long ago we were waiting (not so patiently) for our little Logan to make that long trip from Guatemala to our family and now he is in kindergarten. I love the pictures, the fact that you are carrying on the tradition of the photo on the porch, and the fact that his brother and sister love and miss him so much. Sure love you guys,
Mimi
Way to go big boy.
