Planes, Trains, and Automobiles... Oh, My!

Because our little man is obsessed with all things car, and train related we thought the perfect theme for his party would be
PLANES, TRAINS, and AUTOMOBILES!

We woke up to a happy, smiley boy
He lucked out with having his party on a Saturday, so he was able to enjoy our Saturday morning tradition of donuts and chocolate milk.
I think he enjoyed his 'breakfast'.
We opened the family gifts in the morning, before it got too hectic.  His grandparents did a wonderful job of spoiling him.

Next we were on to the party.

Here is what the invitations looked like.
Our printer has not been working, so they had a very "a naturale" look to them.  I think I spent a total of $20.00 total on the party and food.
Here is what the cake table looked like.
Here is a close up of the cake I made.  My sister sent my a link to instructions on how to make it.  After making it I thought it turned out not so great looking, but lucky for me a two year old's aesthetic view is very different.
I also made some cupcakes in case anyone would rather have those instead.  The little picks are actually erasers that I stuck on toothpicks.  I spotted them in the check out lane at the dollar store, and I was thrilled with my find.
Funny side note ~ I did end up having to put the cupcakes back in the kitchen, because as soon as I was distracted by something I walked around the corner to find this...

The stinker.  I guess he thought it was his birthday or something. : )

 The Birthday signs were hung.
One of the first activities we had set up was the coloring station.  I had found a coloring book at the dollar store that was filled with pictures of vehicles.  I just ripped some of them out and had crayons set up for the kids to use.  The older kiddos loved it.
Lucky for us, my mom had gotten us a water table while she was here. This table has been such a lifesaver during these 100 degree days we have been having lately.  My kids LOVE playing with it.

Next we were on to the water balloon toss.  I found this game last year on clearance at Michaels and we have just never used it.  I'm glad we finally pulled it out, because the kids had so much fun with it.
Some of the kids had great form.
I had to put this picture in, because I thought it was hysterical how Lincoln's little buddy was almost entirely in the cooler, trying to find the perfect water balloon.

The birthday boy had a pretty good arm on him.

Next on the agenda was visiting the train.  We have the most amazing little train station not far from our house.  Lincoln has the street memorized that the train is on.  When we turned down the street he called up to me from his carseat, "Mama, choo choo?"  I told him yep that's where we were headed.  He got the BIGGEST smile on his face and started clapping.  It was adorable.

 Waving at the train conductor.
We had quite the little crew in attendance.
I love and adore the look of pure happiness on his face.  What a sweet little boy.
After the train we headed home for some cake and ice cream.
 Such a little ham.
He loved having everyone sing Happy Birthday to him.
He was a little unsure on how to blow out the candles, but once his buddy showed him how it was done he finished off the other two.
I think all the kids enjoyed their cake and ice cream.
L. and Bella
 Troy, Kate, and Logan
 G. and Brooklyn
Lastly, he enjoyed opening all the fantastic gifts that his little friends brought him.

I also have to post these last few pictures, because I think they are so adorable.  This is the second gift that Lincoln has received from his Grandpa Leishman (Papa) that has been a homemade gift made by my dad.  I love the fact that Lincoln already adores these gifts.  I think it's so neat that Lincoln will one day get to pass these on to his kids.

I think the party was a total success.  I'm glad Lincoln was able to finally get a party for his birthday.  He kind of got gypped last year, because we ended up moving to Missouri the day after his birthday.

We sure love this little boy, and feel blessed everyday to have him in our lives.
