The Good Times Keep Coming

Where were we today you might ask... Our poor little Logan was sent to the emergency room. It all started yesterday when he woke up from his nap. He couldn't even get out of bed because he was in so much pain. He kept limping around on his leg.

Fortunately I was able to grab Jeff for about ten minutes before he had to rush off to young men's. We checked him all over, but couldn't find anything that would cause such pains in his legs. Jeff thought that maybe he had just slept on his leg funny, and that I should see how he was doing the next morning.

This morning I went into Logan's room to get him up, and the same thing happened. If he tried to put any weight on his legs he would cry and scream in pain. I waited until our pediatrician's office opened and called at 8:30. They told me I could bring him in at 11:00. We saw the doctor, and she was amazing with him. (Side note = Thanks again Becky for the awesome recommendation on the pediatrician's office. They are the best.) After the examination the doctor told me she didn't feel comfortable sending us home the way he was. She said that we could go to labs and other offices but that would take a long time to get results back. She suggested it would be faster and easier on Logan if we just took him to the ER.

I immediately called Jeff at work and asked him if he could come with us. I think Heavenly Father was watching out for us because I actually got a hold of him, and he said he could meet us there. I then called my go-to-girl Krista (who saves me on multiple occasions) and asked her if she could take Bella for me.

We eventually got over to the ER, and after x-rays, blood draws, multiple nurses, doctors, etc. We were given the diagnosis that there was inflammation in the sockets of his hip bones. Apparently he is having a reaction to the virus he has had for the last three weeks. They said it's not contagious (which is great news for Bella) and pretty rare. At this point they said to keep giving him Motrin, lots of rest, and fluids. If he isn't better by Monday we are to contact a pediatric orthopedic doctor, and have him checked out.

He was such a little trooper and a very brave little boy. It was horrible to see him in such pain, and I'm hoping and praying that he will recover quickly. When we got home I just carried him in and set him up on the couch, so he could watch Thomas the Train (his favorite).
The sticker they gave him at the hospital said, "Hug me I was brave." He sure was! Can't you see in his eyes how sick he feels. Isn't that interesting how moms can tell if their kids are sick just by looking at their eyes. My poor little man.

Oh gosh! I'm so so sorry! If Krista can't be your go-to gal, don't hesitate to call me!

PS- One of my little guys had this too and refused to walk for 3 days. Luckily, he was small and I could carry him around but it's scary when they won't use their limbs. Logan will come out of it just fine. Call me if you need anything! :)

So sad!! I'm SO glad I've never had to take my kids to the ER or have had such a scare! Poor Logan. Lylee would freak if she had to get blood drawn, I feel for you! And he does look sick and sad in his little eyes. Poor guy, I bet that did hurt!

Wow that is crazy and so sad he just has to wait it out with Motrin and Thomas! (Sometimes you secretly wish for a quick fix to these things!) I have Bella's clothes for you... Did your mom make it in last night?

hope he gets better quickly! that is scary!

McCoy did almost the same thing over Christmas except that there was no pain with his limp, he could barely walk (which didn't slow him down one bit) and after about a week and a half he was back to normal, we never figured it out.

That's awful! Poor little guy! That virus sounds really nasty!

I hope he is on the mend soon and you don't have to go to a specialist.

Take care!
