Lincoln's First Birthday Party...Finally

Before I became a mom I always thought about all the amazing birthday parties I was going to put together for my kids. So far in my short stint as a mother, I have failed miserably. Lincoln turned one on the thirteenth of July, and the kids and I were on an airplane the very next day moving to Missouri. Jeff was already gone for Lincoln's actually birthday, because he was driving our car from Oregon to Missouri. Poor Lincoln even had to go into the doctor and get his one year check up and three shots on his actual birthday. Not the kind of memorable first birthday I was hoping for my little guy.

Once we finally got things a little more settled, we decided to wait and celebrate Lincoln's birthday when Jeff's dad and grandma came for a visit. Jeff is always telling me that it doesn't matter when you celebrate a holiday as long as you are together as a family ~ that is what makes the day special.

So here is our little man celebrating his first birthday on the 5Th of August. :)
Lincoln was so serious about his first cupcake. It was pretty cute watching him investigate it.
It didn't take him long to dive right in.
One happy birthday boy!

Our required family picture. My oh my how we have grown in just a few years.
We decided to make the birthday celebration a joint party with Great Grandma B. Her birthday was in the month of August as well, so we were glad we got to celebrate with her.
Here is a random question for all you crafty people. See that HUGE cork board behind grandma and Logan? What in the world do I do with it? It is a real eyesore, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A quick bath in the kitchen sink is always a good idea after eating birthday cake.
A birthday kiss from my little man.
On to opening birthday presents.
Big brother was good about showing Lincoln how his new toys worked.
Before we left Oregon my dad was able to give Lincoln an airplane that he made himself. These kind of gifts are my absolute FAVORITE kinds of gifts. I love when people put time, love, and use their talents to share a gift with someone else. I love the fact that Lincoln will be able to have this airplane forever and one day hopefully give it to one of his children. My father is incredible with his skills to be able to make something out of nothing. I am in consistent awe at what he can make. I am so grateful that my son was given one of his Papa's treasures.
We sure feel lucky to have our little man in our lives. This past year has gone so fast, but is has been a year full of miracles and love. Every day I thank the Lord for my blessings, and the miracles that I get to witness on a daily basis. I'm grateful that one of those miracles was the gift of having Lincoln in our lives.

Happy Birthday Little Lincoln, we can't wait for all the other milestones and birthdays to come. I love you forever and always!

Thanks for the pics. I would kill for the cork board. Just put a piece of cute fabric on it and use it for your idea wall for your sewing and crafts. You could also decorate it with the different holiday fabrics or crafts even things from the $ store. I'm sure the kids could do some art work to put on it.
