We had a wonderfully terrific weekend. Need I remind you that on Tuesday of last week we went sledding in the snow, this weekend we got our t-shirts and sunglasses out. Less than a week later we were enjoying 70 - 80 degree weather. Crazy I know, but we had such a great time. We decided to take the kids into D.C. and go to the amazing FREE zoo. We took the metro in, and just loved being together as a family.
This is us on the way to the zoo. Do you like our new stroller? Jeff took the trash out last week, and found this stroller by the dumpster. I can't believe that someone just wanted to toss it out. It's a Mclaren double stroller, and it runs between $250 to over $300. Let me know if you want Jeff to go dumpster diving for you, I'm thinking about hiring him out.

Bella was really excited for our trip to the zoo.

This one we were a little unsure of. He did really good until the end when he lost it.

This lion is one of two right by the entrance to the zoo. They were amazing.

We told Logan that he could only wave to the animals, and not jump in with them.

Bella absolutely loved the monkeys. She was cracking up watching them.

We decided we needed a little snack after watching the monkey. Of course bananas were the obvious choice.

I think we should enter Logan into eating contests. Does anyone have kids that can shove an entire banana into their mouth at once?

After coming home and taking naps Jeff and I were able to finally go out on a date in the evening. We were talking about the fact that we couldn't even remember the last time that we had been on a date. It was great to get out and spend time with each other. We dropped the kids over at our friends the Lundell's (Thanks again Lundells, we love you guys!), and then drove the twenty minutes it took us to get to the temple. We went and watched the Joseph Smith movie. It was very inspiring and both Jeff and I talked about how little we should complain about our circumstances. After the movie we went over to Bruster's and got our free ice cream cone. Can you tell that we are all about the free stuff. Here is a funny story about when we were in the movie theater. We walked in two minutes before the movie was supposed to start and found the entire theater empty. We were giving each other high fives, because there is nothing like having an empty movie theater on a date night;) Two minutes later one guy walked in and ended up sitting three seats away from us, same row. Seriously!?! I've included a couple of pictures so you can get the idea of what I'm talking about.

This is the auditorium... plus three people... AWKWARD!!!

This is how Logan spent his night. Picture a thirty year old man sitting next them, and it would be about the same as our night:)

What a fun day!! And what an amazing dumpster find! Wow!!
We have always loved the zoo in DC and have taken our kids lots of times. How fun for you to have the experience!! Isn't it amazing what some people will throw away?
hahaha Shauna those pictures are awesome!!! i love those two adorable munchkins!!! :)
Way to go on the dumpster diving...I'll hire him!
The zoo is fun, but a lot of walking! I bet the kids slept well for naps!
Glad you two got a fun night out, minus the awkward 3rd wheel!
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Shauna you crack me up. How hilarious that guy edged in on your date! Maybe he was a visitor's center worker they sent in there to make sure you guys behaved during the movie! Ha ha just kidding. Next time we should brave the zoo with the kids and the two of us... Two to four? We can handle it, right? Oh and I'll post our pictures from that night soon!
The stroller is great but the lions at the gate!!! Could Jeff bring those home to Oregon. That's exactly what we need at our entrance.
Love,
Mimi
WOW! What a find by the dumpster!!!! That's SO AWESOME!! Tell Jeff to start looking for a double stroller for us! :) And it looks like you guys had a great time at the zoo! We went on Monday but took like 2 pictures and all of the back of Madi's head!! I blame it on having WAY too much fun!! I loved all of your pictures and was wishing that we had taken more. Oh well, guess we'll just have to go back!
