When we told Logan we were going to the pumpkin patch yesterday, he got super excited and kept saying, "Pumpkin Uncle Patch!" My family has called my brother Patch (his real name is Patrick) for as long as I can remember. When Logan met my brother this summer they became inseparable. I think Logan kept thinking that we were going to a place that had pumpkins and his Uncle Patch.
Although we didn't get to see Uncle Patch, we did get to see an awesome farm. I really wanted to take the kids to a pumpkin patch this year, but I was a little apprehensive when I found out that one of the farms was charging $10.00 per person to go to their pumpkin festival. Yikes! I think we hit the jackpot when we were told about the Homestead Farm.
Isn't it gorgeous! It reminded me so much of being in Oregon.
They had a petting zoo of farm animals. Some how they built this ladder for the goats to go up and down for a snack.
After visiting with the animals we headed over to the pumpkin fields. They had these great wheelbarrows to move all your precious cargo around.
I'm sure glad we picked the cream of the crop!
They had all kinds of different and amazing looking pumpkins. This pumpkin cracked Logan up! He thought it was the funniest looking thing ever.
Isn't it cool and spooky looking?
We made a rule this year that the kids can have whichever pumpkin they want as long as they can carry it. We mainly made this rule because we didn't want to spend a whole lot of money. We only spent $4.13! Pretty small cost for a great day of wonderful memories.
There were a ton of little yellow ladybugs in the pumpkin field, Logan was in pure heaven.
On our way to the apple trees we walked by this adorable fence that they had decorated with carved pumpkins.
After our recent trip to one of the local apple orchards I didn't think there would be many apples left on the trees. Boy was I wrong! Look at all these beautiful apples still waiting to be picked.
They also had a tractor hayride that you could pay $3.00 to go on. Logan was super happy just to get to touch the door.

I hope it brings solace. :)
I love Homestead! I've gone on field trips with my kids (pretty pricey!) so I've never thought about going there just as a family. I think we might have to try it, if it's free! I have never had the desire to pay a fee to go to the other one. We always go to the little patch across from the Stake Center.
I love the pumpkin Uncle Patch story!
Ive never been to that place and NOW im super sad! They have NOTHING like that out here all our pumpkin patches are at the methodist church's for some reason and theyre already gathered from the field. LAME! I want to pick my OWN!!! You guys look all cute bundled up! I miss the crisp fall air too........ cry me a river, right? Glad you had some fun though!!!!
So cute, Shauna!! I am really hoping it's nice next weekend so we can go to a pumpkin patch! LOVE Bella's hair clip! What's the secret, I can't figure it out!
OH MY GOSH that is so awesome! Now I REALLY want to go. I can't believe the goat thing... that's even cooler than the orangutans at the zoo! Good find!
This looks like a lot of fun! I may have to try it out.
Sure wish me, Papa, and UNCLE Patch could've gone w/ ya. Looks like fun. Sure hope there are sides on that bridge for the goats!!! Too funny!
So cute! I love all your pictures! Homestead Farm is beautiful! I'm glad you got some pumpkins and what a great rule about buying ones the kids can carry. I should make that rule for Tyler, but knowing him he would pick up a giant one and give himself a hernia carrying it because that is the one he wanted. Anyhow, thanks for sharing!
