You might be wondering what this picture has to do with service, so let me explain.
On Wednesday morning I got a phone call from Terilynne (a woman that I know from church) asking me if I had any plans for the day. All I had planned was running some errands, yep we are that exciting. Terilynne told me that every Wednesday she was trying to do an act of service for someone, and asked if she could come watch my kids for me while I ran the errands that I needed to. When I picked my chin off the floor, and asked her about ten times if she was sure she wanted to do this I asked her how soon she could get here (just kidding).
I can't tell you how nice and unexpected of a gift it was.
I then got another phone call from Terilynne today asking if we were home, because she had something she needed to drop off. Terilynne shows up on my doorstep with a bag and tells me she had noticed that the kids pajamas were a little small on them when she was over the day before. After she left our house yesterday she went to Kohls and picked up the kids some new pajamas. It was so thoughtful and kind of her to see a need in our family, and fill it.
After being served in such a loving way, it made me want to turn around and reciprocate that kindness to others. Isn't that one of the incredible things about service! I guess that is my message for this post: take a moment to look around your environment, see where you can fill a need, and then fill it with service. Then just sit back and watch the domino effect take place from your one act of service.
Thanks Terilynne for loving on our family, we really appreciate it!

That is wonderful to hear! Isn't it great to be the recipient of service like that? Terilynne is always the best at serving others!
Okay that makes ME want to do something like that for someone! How sweet! She is one awesome lady! I hope you know ill never forget my mayday flower though... It still makes me happy! =)
That family is so amazing. Before you moved here Travis had a little "INCIDENT" involving church basketball that resulted in his glasses breaking. I was so mad because he has such a ridiculous temper when sports are involved and also glasses are so EXPENSIVE! Then we received a family Christmas letter from the Butlers (Bro. Butler was present at the incident) with a large sum of money enclosed to help with replacing his glasses. They had just written, "Pay it forward!" I hope I can be a generous person like them someday!
Terilynne is one of the finest ladies I ever had the pleasure of knowing.
Wish I could say the same about her friend who ditched her that Wednesday for a birthday party and shopping with Krista...hump
