I've been running a little behind on a lot of things lately, but I wanted to make sure I did this post. My baby brother celebrated his 26Th birthday this week. What a great blessing it is to have him in our lives.
This is where my sister, brother, and myself were 26 years ago.
Oh man, we were excited to welcome our baby brother home. I hope my kids are as excited to see their new brother.
I just wanted to post a few things that I admire about my brother, and why I love him so much.
One thing that I love about my brother's personality is his great love of animals. He has always had a magic touch with wildlife, and loved all of our family pets.
I think my brother has one of the most genuine and beautiful smiles. He can totally light up a room when he enters it.
He has a quiet, gentle demeanor. He has a very calming spirit about him. He can make anyone feel relaxed and comfortable.
My brother loves to make people laugh. I can always remember him coming up with these crazy costumes just to get a laugh out of us. He still has a great sense of humor.
He is the baby of the family, and lets his two older sisters give him lots of advice. :) I was recently talking to him on the phone, and at the end of the conversation I said bye and hung up. A few minutes later the phone rang again and it was my brother saying that he didn't say I love you at the end of the conversation, and he wanted to make sure I knew that.
Our family would not be complete without him.
He is a fantastic uncle! My kids are constantly asking, "Where did Uncle Patch go?", "Can we talk to Uncle Patch?"
He has an incredible amount of patience. Even when he has all his nieces and nephews climbing all over him, he has a smile on his face.
He is up for trying new things. For example bungee jumping. I have no idea where he got his sense of adventurism, because it definitely skipped me. He is great about having an open mind, and willing to try new things.
Patch, we love you very much and we are so proud of you. You have overcome so much in your life, and we have loved seeing your progress. We have really enjoyed seeing you become the man that you are today. You have such a bright spirit and love that you carry with you. I know that it's possible for you to accomplish anything you put your mind to. We can't wait to see where life takes you, and the adventures that lay in store for you. Thanks for letting us be a part of your life, and letting us enjoy the amazing person that you are. We love you very much, and wish you an unforgettable upcoming year. Happy Birthday!

Aw how sweet! We were exactly where you were 26 years ago - same couch, same haircuts, two sisters and a new baby brother! (Okay so my brother is only 22, but the couch & hair was really the same.)
What a great tribute. Those years without having Patch a part of our lives was like a piece of me was missing. Patch you are an amazing brother and our whole family is proud of all the steps you have taken this past year.
