Love is In the Air

I thought I would share some of my Valentine decorations that I recently completed.  I told my mom I would post a picture of the wreath I made once I had it done.  I'm not sure if I'm done with it yet, but this is how it looks so far.  I'm kind of proud of the fact that I didn't spend any money on it.  That's right a big fat ZERO.

The frame is made from a cardboard box that I painted red.  I then applied different sized hearts that I crocheted, and a few flowers that I made out of felt.  I used some heavy card stock to make the banner.  I sewed the red lined detail on my sewing machine.  I'm thinking I might change out the LOVE letters to a thicker more antique looking font.
I hot glued some crystals I had on hand, slapped a bow on it and voila I had a finished wreath.
I also found some frames in the dollar bin at Michael's a few years ago.  I painted the frame red, and hot glued some of the crocheted hearts on to the frame.  Not bad for a low cost Valentine decoration.
And I can't leave out a picture of the beautiful selves my dad made.
I'm not a huge fan of the Valentine holiday itself, but I do enjoy seeing all these little reminders about love.  It melts my heart. : )  What are your Valentine decorations looking like in your neck of the woods?

I just got Jeremy to put up two shelves today and now I don't know what to put on them. I wanted to do holiday themes. Thanks for posting your Valentine's theme. Love it. And super cute crafts. That Michaels frame is AWESOME! I want one!! :)

SHAUNA! Look at you! "...and then I just whipped up 8 dozen crocheted hearts in my spare time..." Amazing! You are so sweet to keep offering to take my kids - but no it is YOU I want to hang out with! Not dump my kids off on you some more while I go relax! Ha ha! That is what YOU should be doing! Seriously, we can take them whenever you want! But mostly, we should plan a playdate. We are getting lonely over here. The other day I was thinking, "I need to make some new friends out here." Then I remembered, oh wait, Missouri came with built-in friends! Let's go hang out. Oh, and in MAY... you will have free temple trip babysitters whenever you want! We are just UP THE ROAD! So you drop off your kids at our house, go to the temple, come back and have dessert, all within a reasonable amount of time! Even easier than it was in DC. I will call you this week.

Well, they don't look like anything. I don't have any! But I love what you did! They look so good!

Do you use a wreath hanger over your door to hang your wreath or something else? I bought a wreath hanger only to find that the weather stripping around our door makes it so you can't close the door with the wreath hanger on it. Don't know what to do now.

Supper cute and thrifty! I would expect nothing less. Your kids are getting so big and as cute as ever. Glad to "read" you are doing well!
