If It Looks Like a Beach, Smells Like a Beach, Sounds Like a Beach... It's Still Not a Beach

Yesterday we decided to take a trip to the beach.  Jeff got on the internet to find a beach close to where we live.  He found one only about an hour away in a town called Chesapeake Beach.

The drive over was beautiful.  It really reminded me of what Oregon looks like.  It was just gorgeous looking at all the trees, the farms, and the blue sky.

We were pretty excited once we got there to see the beach for the first time.

Logan was very impressed with the water.
Bella striking a pose.
They had this great boardwalk along the water front.
Aren't my boys cute.
Once we got to the beach we were a little surprised by what we found.  The picture below basically shows what the beach looked like... the WHOLE beach.  Yep that's the extent of the beach in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland.  Apparently someone decided to throw some sand down on a strip of land and call it a beach.  The real kicker was that you had to pay to go on the beach.  Yes you heard me right they were charging $7.00 per person.  Ridiculous!!!
We ended up begging one of the security guards to let us go on the beach and snap a couple of quick pictures.  He told us we could only go on for a couple of minutes because his boss was watching him.

That was the extend of our first beach trip.  I don't know what the kids are going to do when we get to Oregon and let them have the run of the miles and miles of beach front.

On the way back home we got to see this huge pack of motorcycle riders led my this great old car.  We pulled over on the side of the rode and watched hundreds of motorcycles pass us by, it was pretty fun.

And a rode trip wouldn't be complete without some dancing in the car.  Hope you enjoy the video of our cute kids.

WHOA that's crazy! We've never even been to the beach since living here. Go figure, they milk you for every penny out here... why not the beach too? We should plan a trip to Ocean City sometime! I hear it's fun. That is all I know.

$7?!!! I am still in shock by that number. PER person? Wowzers! That's hilarious though when you read it all in a post like that. A man made tiny beach that you drive an hour to costs $28 just to play on. That's craziness!!! It'll be a nice relief to visit Oregon beaches!

I'm loving that you're thinking of clip ideas!! I'm really excited for those!!!

Ha! That was the first beach we went to when we moved here too. We did not set foot on the sand since $7 a person is too much!

Still, we found a fun place last year that is a state park (so you still have to pay to get in) but it has a lot of beach. Sandy Point State Park. We plan on going when we get back from Utah...want to come along? It's not on the OCEAN, but on the Chesapeake and so the waves are a little calmer. Also, jelly fish. Ugh.

What a FUN family outing! I grew up going to the Oregon Coast every summer, and then after living in CA for several years I also except a lot more from a beach! Soon though- your kids get to see a "real" beach VERY soon!!!! I'm SUPER excited for your trip to Oregon! Spencer and I are DYING to go home for a visit! Unfortunately it's not going to be for awhile! :(

You got some SUPER cute pics from your outing though. I assume Logan is feeling better now!? Where's the blog post about your sacrament throw-up incident??? I couldn't tell that Jeff had puke all down him when you guys bolted out, but then SPencer filled me in on the way home from church (after talking to Jeff third hour). WOW!!! That stinks- (probably literally too :)!!! Hope you guys had a fabulous Memorial Day!

EXPECT!!! I expect a lot more from a beach. Sorry, I always forget to read through my comments before publishing. I'm sure there are other errors, but that one just stuck out like a sore thumb! Couldn't leave it uncorrected!! :)

I second Safire's recommendation for Sandy Point. On Wednesdays, it's a dollar to get in, and kids in car seats are always free. Not too bad.

Seriously funny about the beach! Good adventures! You will definitly have to get your beach fix when you are in Oregon. We have gotten to go alot recently and McCoy LOVES the sand!
